When you don’t want to buy in bulk, such as a 1/4 or 1/2 beef, our all natural, grassfed ground beef is also sold by the pound. This particular item is ground to the approximate ratio of 85/15, meaning 85% meat and 15% fat. We like using this beef for burgers as it’s a little juicier, or for dishes in which we want a little more fat. If you like your ground beef a little leaner, we also sell 90/10 ground beef here.
Grassfed and Finished
Our cattle are 100% grass fed and finished, which means that they are raised on their mother’s milk as well as the forage they eat in the pastures. We also feed them supplemental hay as necessary during the winter. To ensure they are getting the minerals they need, we offer them free-choice organic or all natural mineral supplements from Fertrell, as well as natural Redmond trace mineral salt and clay.
When we say that we raise our cattle organically and naturally, we mean that we do not use any hormones, steroids, antibiotics, performance enhancers, etc. We also do not use any chemical pesticides or fertilizers on our pastures. We strive for a natural, organic environment.
Health Benefits of Grassfed Beef
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Grass-fed beef may have some heart-health benefits that other types of beef don’t have. When compared with other types of beef, grass-fed beef may have:
- Less total fat
- More heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids
- More conjugated linoleic acid, a type of fat that’s thought to reduce heart disease and cancer risks
- More antioxidant vitamins, such as vitamin E”

According to Eatwild.com, “Meat, eggs, and dairy products from pastured animals are ideal for your health. Compared with commercial products, they offer you more “good” fats, and fewer “bad” fats. They are richer in antioxidants; including vitamins E, beta-carotene, and vitamin C. Furthermore, they do not contain traces of added hormones, antibiotics or other drugs.” You can read more here.
